“One line drawing”-style faces

Step-by-step instructions

This “one line drawing”-style is guaranteed to get the artist in you excited!

Whether you opt for faces, like we have, or other motifs, this creative design simply calls for you to add your own artwork to the wall. This “one line drawing”-style creates a dynamic and modern look on the walls of your house.

For a modern, yet natural look, we opted for Strukturvlies Basic 407 textured nonwoven wallpaper. But, of course, any Erfurt wallpaper can be used for this creative design.

1. Measure the wall to be wallpapered and transfer the dimensions to the wallpaper.

2. Cut the lengths of wallpaper to size.

3. Brush the paste onto the back of the wallpaper and hang the wallpaper vertically on the wall. You can also use the paste-the-wall technique and apply paste directly to the wall. Place the wallpaper dry into the bed of paste.

4. Use a dry brush to lightly brush the wallpaper to smooth out any air bubbles under the wallpaper. When applying the lengths of wallpaper, make sure that the lengths are hung edge to edge, and do not overlap or leave gaps (butt jointed).

5. Once the wallpaper is dry, apply a coat of primer. We opted for white primer to create a clean look. Before painting, use masking tape and film to protect the skirting and floor.

6. Once the primer has dried, use masking tape to mask off the area to be painted in a single colour. In our case, this is the strip where our coat hooks will subsequently be fitted.

Use a spirit level to achieve perfectly straight corners and edges.

7. Now, it’s time for the paint. We have opted for a gold ochre shade.

Stir the paint and pour into a paint tray, then use a small paint roller to paint the edges up to the masking tape and fill in the centre.

Carefully remove the masking tape as soon as the paint along the masking tape has dried.

8. Time for the artist in you. Adopting a “one line drawing”-style, paint your design onto the wall. You can also lightly sketch the design with a pencil in advance before painting it on. The width of the brush determines the line width of the faces.

It looks great when the faces created by the paint strips merge seamlessly into each other.

When you have finished with the faces, leave the paint to dry. Remove the masking tape and film – and the wall is finished.

Now, you can add furniture.
