1. First, gather the required materials. Now measure the wall, transfer the measurements to the flat nonwoven wallpaper and cut accordingly. Paper the wall with the flat nonwoven wallpaper according to the instructions and allow it to dry.

2. Transfer the wall measurements to a brickwork wallpaper and cut the first strip to size.

3. Before cutting the next strip to size, check how the joints and bricks fit together. Cut the next sheet accordingly. Mark the wallpaper strips at the seam with arrows so that they can be precisely aligned when wallpapering.

HANDY HINT: To achieve a perfect wallpaper joint, it may be necessary to cut away some of the wallpaper between the individual lengths to ensure that the pattern repeat lines up.

4. Number the wallpaper strips from left to right. They will later be attached to the wall in this order.

5. To create the illusion of a wall breakthrough, you now need to decide how wide the masonry should be on the wall and then cut the corresponding number of strips. Now decide what the transition from the brickwork to the smooth wallpaper should look like. The desired breakthrough is marked with a pencil.

6. Then cut out the marked outlines.

HANDY HINT: For the most realistic wall effect, trim the bricks at the corners so that they are rounded and well contoured.

7. Apply the wallpaper paste to the numbered strips on the back, let the paste dry briefly and then apply the strips to the wall in the numbered order.

8. When attaching the sheets, pay attention to the markings so that the pattern repeats line up. Use a soft brush to remove air bubbles and apply the brickwork-look wallpaper flat on the underlying flat nonwoven wallpaper. Let it dry.

9. To paint the wallpaper to look like brickwork, use the roller to apply a very small amount of paint, but be careful not to get too much paint in the brickwork joints.

10. Then use the soft and rough sides of the sponge and plenty of water to smudge the paint and add texture to the bricks. Make sure to apply the paint in an aesthetically pleasing manner and not over too large an area.

13. Contour the outer edges of the bricks with a paintbrush. Draw a narrow line on the outermost edge, wet the brush well and let the paint run into the interior of the brick with plenty of water. Optionally, some of the bricks inside the wall can be selectively contoured with the brush to enhance the three-dimensional effect.

11. Use a similar method with the flat nonwoven wallpaper in the center of the wall
opening. Again, use a roller to apply the paint in very small amounts. Move the roller up and down the wall in a vertical motion to avoid creating random patterns.

12. Paint the rest of the wall with heavily diluted paint using the soft side of the sponge. Move the sponge horizontally to mimic the orientation of the bricks.
