The FSC® certificate is a globally recognised quality seal for sustainable forestry. It is awarded by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) and ensures that wood and paper products are sourced from responsibly managed forests. This means that environmental, social and economic aspects of forest use are taken into account equally.
The FSC® system differentiates between three main types of certification:
- FSC® 100% – the product is sourced entirely from FSC®-certified forests.
- FSC® Mix – the product contains a mixture of FSC®-certified wood, recycled material and inspected wood.
- FSC® Recycled – the product is made of recycled materials only.
The FSC® seal ensures that no illegal deforestation takes place, the rights of indigenous peoples are respected, and sustainable reforestation is guaranteed.
Consumers who opt for FSC®-certified products actively contribute to environmental protection and fair working conditions in the forestry sector.
