The all-rounder among construction panels

The wallcovering manufacturer Erfurt is simplifying the design and implementation of complex renovation projects with a new, universal lightweight panel. Erfurt's new KlimaTec Varioplatte panel, which is made of expanded glass, is highly resilient, ultra lightweight, and can be used both indoors and outdoors.

Whether it is used as facing formwork, to level a base surface or in a loft extension – the Varioplatte panel is the first choice of professional tradespeople when it comes to the straightforward and cost-effective completion of smaller construction projects. Complex construction tasks can now be completed efficiently. Whereas in the past there was a special panel for every application, such as universal panels with a gypsum core, heavy cement-bonded damp-proof panels, or special technical foam-based construction panels, professionals can now confidently speed up their selection process: The new ERFURT-Varioplatte panel from the KlimaTec system complies with a host of requirements and perfectly covers a wide range of applications. Alongside its excellent stability, light weight and ease of application, it is also moisture-regulating and very low in emissions.

One panel – many applications

Erfurt-KlimaTec Varioplatte VP 1000+ PRO panels are made of 96% recycled waste glass (expanded glass granulate) – reinforced on both sides with a fibreglass mesh for stability. A Stanley knife is all that is needed to cut the lightweight panels (only 5 kg/m²). The panels are fixed to the base surface by applying Erfurt-KlimaTec System Adhesive SR6 to the entire surface or by screwing them to a suitable substructure. Final surface smoothing is also carried out with the felttable and grindable system adhesive SR 6. The finished surface forms an ideal base for any subsequent wallpapering or painting, e.g. with Erfurt's paintable and breathable wallcoverings.

The new Erfurt-KlimaTec Varioplatte panel is a real drywalling all-rounder, as it can be used both inside and outside: as drywall, roof cladding, for loft extensions or as a prewall on cold exterior and basement walls. It works just as well in wet areas, whether in shower cubicles, as bath surrounds or as prewalls onto which sanitary appliances will be fitted. Its moisture resistance also makes it ideal for use outdoors, whether in car ports, garden sheds, tiny houses, as roof soffits or when constructing outdoor kitchens.

Good reasons to opt for the Varioplatte panel

Now, tradespeople can complete the vast majority of work with just a single panel, thanks to the new Erfurt-KlimaTec Varioplatte panel. Processing errors, for example due to confusion between different product system requirements, are thus excluded. Further positive features include its ease of transport and storage, minimal logistics work and overall greater flexibility due to the added safety provided by a superior product. This low-emission KlimaTec Varioplatte panel meets consumers' growing need to have healthier products in the home (to buffer water vapour and regulate air humidity).
