ÖKO-Test „Good“
In the February edition of ″Ratgeber″ magazine.

The Öko-Test magazine further underlines Erfurt’s product policy that is based on sustainability, the environment and health. In its February edition, the magazine tested ten commercially available textured nonwoven wallpapers and, of these, only ERFURT Vliesfaser Basic 4301 was awarded an overall rating of ″Good″.  The editorial test team rated nine out of the ten wallpapers tested as ″unsatisfactory″. Key to this result is Erfurt’s production process for structuring the surface of the wallpapers. While Erfurt provides its nonwoven products with texture by means of an environmentally-friendly heat embossing process, the majority of manufacturers use PVC pastes that are expanded onto a nonwoven carrier with PVC/PVDC/chlorinated plastics harmful to the environment. Phthalate softeners are needed to ensure that these plastic surfaces are kept flexible for as long as possible for subsequent handling. These are substances hazardous to health that are banned from use in baby products and children’s toys.
In conclusion: ″Better to leave PVC expanded wallpapers on the shelf and instead use embossed wallpapers, smooth nonwovens or woodchip.”

ÖKO-Test „Very good“

The ÖKO-Test Publishing House in Frankfurt a.M. gives Rauhfaser 52/Classico a final rating of “Very good.” The total rating is based on an assessment of content (price, composition, and presence of contaminants) and in-home product sampling (tear strength when wet, processing, opacity and opacity after the first coat of paint.) Conclusion: The Öko-Test seal stands for trustworthiness, and awards Rauhfaser its seal of approval.

The environmental seal is awarded through the RAL e.V. and is valid for wallpapers made from base paper according to DIN 6730:2003 and for ingrain woodchip according to DIN 6730:2003. This entails the fulfillment of requirements of the production of products made predominantly out of recycled paper and for the ecologically friendly, low emission production of awarded product. Conclusion: The company, as well as the brand ERFURT stands for environmentally and ecologically responsible business.

Mould and Bacteria Tests on ERFURT Woodchip Designs 

Based on a voluntary material test, the GUI – German Society for Environmental and Interior Analysis, collaboration with the German Technical Inspection Agency TÜV NORD Systems GmbH & Co. KG, confirms that all ERFURT woodchip designs are well below the limit set by the Technical Inspection Agency TÜV NORD Systems GmbH & Co. KG in terms of their germ content. This target has been achieved without the use of chemical agents. Conclusion: Woodchip is a clean solution, even for ”sensitive” customers, who suffer from allergies.

100% Paper

All ERFURT-Novaboss embossed wallpapers, which are made from pure paper, without the addition of flexibiliser or PVC, vinyl or similarly spumed synthetic materials carry the "100%" paper symbol. The Forest Stewardship Council confirms “Nonwoven Ambiente” and “Nonwoven Design” as product groups, whose raw materials originate from certified well-managed forest, and other controlled sources. This signifies a “production of wallpapers from certified raw nonwoven and raw paper with a minimum of 50% certified fibre.” Our products even contain up to a 70% fibre. The general building regulations test certificates, granted by the NorthrhineWestfalia MPA (Centre for Material Testing), apply to the manufacture and use of  “Vliesfaser Basic“, “Vliesfaser Classic“, “Vliesfaser Objekt“ and “Vliesfaser Design“ (P-MPA-E-02-579), “Variovlies A 40“ and “Variovlies A 50 Basic“ (P-MPA-E-06-514), “Variovlies M 140 Objekt“ and “Variovlies M 160“ (P-MPA-E-02-578), “Variovlies V 180“ and “Variovlies V 200 S Plus“ (P-MPA-E-06-526) and “FlexoMur“ (P-MPA-E-05-508) wall coverings as flame-resistant building materials (Building materials class DIN 4102-B1) according to DIN 4102-1.
